Great to start back at Sudbourne Park Printmakers this week. In preparation, I’ve been working from my Cornwall sketches.
My first interpretation of one sketch this week involved using drypoint etching and monotype.
On the left, two printing plates (acetate) are shown. The bottom one is etched and inked in a mixture of burnt umber, process magenta and black which produces the drypoint etching. The top plate was inked up using cyan blue, process magenta, burnt umber and a touch of yellow ochre.
The coloured monotype was printed first and then the etched plate was printed on top. The result is shown here:
This is a second experiment with the same etching, depicting more of a sense of atmosphere rather than my initial study of landscape which was simply to capture the blue skies of summer…endless possibilities.
