Hand burnished print from woodcut

A local view sparked the idea, followed by a sketch and photo for reference back in the studio. Working out what to carve away or what to leave consumed my initial thought processing although I have to admit to enjoying a certain amount of unpredictability in the outcome. After hand burnishing the back of the paper with a barren and wooden spoon, I lift up the first print…this is it. After I make a few adjustments I’ll be ready to make a series of limited edition prints.
